The Symposium offers incredible opportunities to exchange experiences, discuss solutions to technical and managerial challenges and will offer an insight into latest technologies, equipment and available methods. This message is to inform you about a forthcoming event in the Disaster-Resilient Societies (DRS) Thematic Area that will take place in a hybrid format in Brussels on the 23-25 March 2022.

Program: DRS March Event_Agenda outline

This follows up the cancelation of a similar event that was planned in December. The event is part of the 2022 agenda of the “Community of European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS)”, covering various DRS aspects, namely Societal Resilience, CBRN-E, Standardisation, Technologies for First Responders and Pandemics crisis management. In this respect, DG HOME has encouraged a range of H2020 DRS projects to join forces in co-organising/chairing this event, contributing to set-up the agenda of the different sessions, which will involve a larger number of H2020 projects as well as representatives of different sectors (policy-making, research, SME/Industry, practitioners, civil society), thus providing a high-level platform of exchanges in the DRS area contributing to CERIS objectives. The meeting will be held in Brussels (BAO Congress Centre), mixing a physical participation (max. 100 participants) and a virtual attendance (via WebEx). A first agenda outline is attached. A consolidated version will be released before the end of February along with the opening of the registration platform. The meeting will take place from Wednesday 23^rd March to Friday 25^th March. Please save the date in case you are interested to join. Further information will be released soon via the CERIS mailing list and website.

For your information, the schedule of DRS virtual events that was announced at the end of last year had to changed owing to other priorities. The plan is now to hold 2h30-WebEx events (from 10 to 12:30 each day) that will invite recently launched H2020 and Horizon Europe DRS projects to meet with advanced projects in order to exchange about the state-of-the-art of different DRS areas and to strengthen synergies. The new dates are, respectively, on 15 June (Societal Resilience), 16 June (Integrated Disaster Risk Management) and 17 June (Technologies for First and Second Responders). In addition, another hybrid event has been provisionally scheduled (in Brussels) on the 14-16 September along the same format as the one proposed in March.

Finally, please note that CERIS Side-events will take place in the framework of two international conferences, namely on the 4^th May in Lille (France) in the CBRN-E area (https://cbrneconference.fr) and on the 31^st May in Tours (France) in the climate change area (https://ccw2022.sciencesconf.org/). These events will enable to broaden the CERIS community and disseminate information on H2020 achievements to a wider audience.

Dans le cadre des résultats émis par le groupe de travail CBRN – Med démontrant la nécessité de former les personnels des services d’urgence des hôpitaux à la problématique de la menace CBRN (Chimique, Biologique, Radiologique et Nucléaire) et riche des enseignements acquis lors des premiers cours organisés avec succès à l’ICI depuis 2018, l’Institut propose une nouvelle série de cours en cette année 2022.

Following the NDM-UN Plenary VI and related survey, these consultations will provide space to exchange views, share best practices and promote next steps to encourage a more equitable, diverse and inclusive work environment in the sector. Key recommendations will be incorporated in the draft MA AoR strategy 2022-2024.

In light of the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that we had to postpone twice the Symposium in 2020, the Organizing Committee of the Symposium has decided to keep the planned agenda, since it would be a shame to miss a chance and present all that excellent presentations to our colleagues in mine action community.
